Anyone who is a fan of JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Games) would already be aware of Kingdom Hearts and how amazing it is. For anyone who isn’t aware, JRPGs include games such as Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, and The World Ends with You. These games are created in Japan and are known to be some of the best games ever created. If you have a PlayStation, you can find these games on the PlayStation Store.
However, you would need a blazing-fast internet connection so that you could buy these games online and then install them on your console as quickly as possible. This is why you should look into Xfinity Internet Bundles so that you can hook yourself up with one of the most reliable internet services in the country, that too at a price so affordable, it would astound you!
Coming back to JRPGs, today we will be talking about Kingdom Hearts and the characters that make the game so iconic. So, make sure you read the entire article so that you can figure out how the characters add life to the game and what makes Kingdom Hearts such a brilliant game! So without any further ado, let’s get started! However, do keep in mind there might be some spoilers ahead if you haven’t played the series already.
- Sora
It would obviously make sense if we started off with the main character of the game, the character around whom the whole game revolves. Sora is the main cohesive force between all the characters of the franchise because he has a bond with every character in the game who isn’t a villain. Not only that, Sora is also a pretty strong keyblade wielder and it just didn’t make sense to us when Sora couldn’t make it through the Mark of Mastery Exam.
Sora is known for his optimistic approach to things and he tends to find the light in even the darkest of times. Sora believes that his friends are his power and he would do absolutely anything to save them.
- Roxas
Roxas has a relatively darker story but it is still enough to earn him a spot in this list. When Sora sacrifices his heart to save Kairi in the first Kingdom Hearts game, that is when Roxas is created. Roxas is the “nobody” of Sora, a being without a heart once someone loses their heart. However, then begins Roxas’ struggles of figuring out who he is and his longing to become his own person.
We get to see most of Roxas in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and a little bit in Kingdom Hearts 2 during the prologue and that was enough for us to fall in love with the character! So, if you want an intense sort of story to follow, then you should definitely take a look at Roxas’ story.
- Riku
Riku’s story started a bit rocky in the first part of the series but then, with time Riku redeems himself as the story progresses. Riku really proves his mettle in Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance when he rescues Sora from almost becoming Xehanort’s vessel. Riku also passes his Mark of Mastery Exam and becomes a Keyblade Master.
He further shows what he is made of in Kingdom Hearts 3 when he sets off with Mickey to rescue Aqua from the Realm of Darkness. So Riku is, without a doubt, another character that deserves a spot on this list.
- Aqua
Out of all the characters in the story, Aqua has to be the one who has been through the most ordeal and trials. Aqua always looked out for her friends even after she became a keyblade master and in the end of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, she also sacrificed herself to the Realm of Darkness only so that she could save Terra and Ventus.
She then spends 10 years in the Realm of Darkness, waiting for someone to come save her but in the end, she gives in to the darkness until Sora shows up to save the day! Given everything that Aqua has been through, it just wouldn’t make sense if she wasn’t on this list.
- King Mickey
Lastly, we just really had to mention Mickey here because of how crucial he has been to the series. Mickey plays the role of the King of Disney Castle and not only that, but he is also a keyblade master. There are key plot points where Mickey has shown how important he is to the story and you can even briefly play as Mickey in certain parts of Kingdom Hearts 2 where Sora loses all his HP and Mickey comes to rescue and revive him.
Mickey has been around ever since the events of Birth by Sleep and stayed until the events of Kingdom Hearts 3. He fought darkness alongside Sora and you would have to play the game to understand how important his role has been.
Conclusive Note
Kingdom Hearts is definitely one of the best games you could ever play and that is only because of the brilliant characters that the game introduced us to. So to make sure that you don’t miss out, make sure you play all the parts! And as a bonus, Kingdom Hearts also has a beautiful soundtrack throughout, so don’t miss that either!
